Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday released the National Report of the fifth round of National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) at the 'Swasthya Chintan Shivir' being held at Gujarat's Vadodara.
New Delhi, May 6: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday released the National Report of the fifth round of National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) at the 'Swasthya Chintan Shivir' being held at Gujarat's Vadodara.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of State for Health Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar were also present on the occasion.
The report comprises of detailed information on key domains of population, health and family welfare and associated domains like characteristics of the population, fertility, family planning, infant and child mortality, maternal and child health, nutrition and anaemia, morbidity and healthcare, women's empowerment etc.
The NFHS-5 survey work has been conducted in around 6.37 lakh sample households from 707 districts of the country from 28 States and 8 UTs, covering 7,24,115 women and 1,01,839 men to provide dis-aggregated estimates up to district level.
Its scope had expanded from the earlier round (NFHS-4) by adding new dimensions such as death registration, pre-school education, expanded domains of child immunisation, components of micro-nutrients to children, menstrual hygiene, frequency of alcohol and tobacco use, additional components of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), expanded age range for measuring hypertension and diabetes among all aged 15 years and above, which will give requisite inputs for monitoring and strengthening existing programmes and evolving new strategies for policy intervention.
The NFHS-5 shows an overall improvement in SDG indicators in all states and UTs. The extent to which married women usually participate in three household decisions - health care for herself, making major household purchases, visit to her family or relatives - indicates that their participation in decision making is high, ranging from 80 per cent in Ladakh to 99 per cent in Nagaland and Mizoram.
The prevalence of women having a bank or savings account that they use has increased from 53 to 79 per cent in the last 4 years, said the Health Ministry in a statement.
As per the report, between NFHS-4 and NFHS-5, the use of clean cooking fuel (44 per cent to 59 per cent) and improved sanitation facilities (49 per cent to 70 per cent), including a hand-washing facility with soap and water (60 per cent to 78 per cent) have improved considerably.
The NFHS-6 scheduled to be conducted during 2023-24 propose to cover new areas like Covid-19 hospitalisation and distress financing, Covid-19 vaccinations, Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) under various welfare schemes initiated by the Centre, migration, utilisation of health services - health and wellness centres, health insurance etc, said the ministry in the report.

New Delhi, Dec 6: Over the past seven days, the Adani Group of Stocks has outperformed the Nifty 50. The group companies have experienced gains of between 16 per cent and 63 per cent said Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst, Bonanza Portfolio.
He said that Adani Total Gas -- one stock that has more than doubled investor wealth -- has increased in value over the past seven days by more than 60 per cent.
He said that in addition, the stock has dropped the most year-to-date by as much as 70.5 per cent, and it is currently trading at a 73.65 per cent discount to its 52-week high.
He said that the Adani Power and Adani Ports, two Adani group enterprises, are near to 52-week highs during this period.

Nifty closed on a positive note, while most sectorial indices closed in the green. Nifty IT and Nifty Energy were among the outperforming sector up by 1.67 per cent and 1.55 per cent respectively.
Wipro, LTIMindtree, ITC, L&T and TC were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers includes Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, Cipla, NTPC and UltraTech Cement.

He said that a strong rebound in IT, driven by reduced US recession risks and in anticipation of robust summer demand, fuels the momentum in the power sector.

New Delhi, Dec 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday visit Dehradun to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the 'Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023', an official release from the PMO said.
The event will be held at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.
'Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023' is a step towards establishing Uttarakhand as a new investment destination. The two-day summit is themed - "Peace to Prosperity".
The summit will be attended by thousands of investors and delegates from across the world. It will witness the participation of Union Ministers, Ambassadors of various countries along with leading industrialists, among others.
Earlier, on Friday, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the Social Media Influencers Meet ahead of the Global Investors Summit, said that Uttarakhand is one of the safest states in the country in terms of law and order and is most suitable for investment.
"We went to many places in the country and abroad regarding the Investors Summit from where we got a very good response. So far investment proposals worth Rs 2 lakh crore have been signed," Dhami said, adding that the maximum focus of the state government is on employment generation.
The Uttarakhand CM, further during the Social Media Influencers Meet, called upon everyone to spread the word about this event in the country and the world through their means so that Destination Uttarakhand, Global Investors Summit becomes trending everywhere.
The Global Investors Summit is to be held in Dehradun on December 8-9. The 2-day long Investors Summit will be a platform for business delegations, corporate leaders, academia, Innovators and Government leadership from across the globe, to collectively explore business opportunities and partnerships in the state of Uttarakhand. ‘The Archies’ is directed by Zoya Akhtar. It stars Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal and Yuvraj Menda. The film is scheduled for release on Netflix on 7 December 2023.
