India is registering less than 50,000 daily new cases for the last 35 days. However, the country registered marginally higher cases on Sunday than Saturday's caseload of 41,649.
With 541 more covid fatalities, India's cumulative death toll from Covid-19 now stands at 4,24,351.
India's active caseload has crossed the four lakh mark again and currently stands at 4,10,952. India's recovery rate is 97.36 per cent. However, the active cases constitute 1.30 per cent of the total cases.
The weekly positivity rate remains below 5 per cent and is currently at 2.42 per cent. The daily positivity rate continues to remain below 5 per cent for the last fifty five days and currently stands at 2.34 per cent.
Meanwhile, the government has advised the states to restrict the gatherings in the districts which are reporting over 10 per cent positivity rate.
According to the government data, a total of 39,258 patients were discharged from hospitals and health centers in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured to 3,08,20,521 to date as the virus continued to infect less than one lakh people over the last 53 days.
The Health Ministry data said that a total of 60,15,842 Covid vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hrs. With this, the number of vaccinated people with at least one jab has gone up to 47,02,98,596 in the country.
In a tweet, Health Ministry said that India has achieved a landmark in vaccination drive against the Covid pandemic and has successfully jabbed over 47 crore people across the nation.
The total number of samples tested so far has reached 46.82 crores as on August 1.

New Delhi, Aug 1: India on Sunday reported 41,831 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 541 fatalities, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data showed.
PM Modi Thanks UN Chief For Support To India’s G20 Presidency
Dubai, Dec 1: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, on the sidelines of the COP28 summit in Dubai on Friday.
The Prime Minister thanked Guterres for his support during India's G20 presidency.
He highlighted India's initiatives and progress in achieving climate goals.
Both leaders exchanged views on priorities and concerns of the Global South related to climate action, climate finance, technology and reforms of the multilateral governance and financial institutions, including the UN.
The UN Secretary-General appreciated India's efforts in the areas of sustainable development, climate action, MDB reforms, and disaster management under G20 Presidency. He welcomed PM Modi's Green Credit Initiative.
He affirmed to work with India to build on the achievements of India's Presidency and take them forward at the UN Summit of the Future 2024.

BMC Gets Serious About Mumbai Air Pollution, Invites EoI For Artificial Rains
Mumbai, Dec 1: The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation on Friday invited expression of interest (EoI) from global companies for its planned "cloud seeding" programme intended for artificial rains to battle the severe air pollution in Mumbai.
The civic body has sought EoIs from companies, firms, and organisations having a legal status for initiating the "cloud seeding" programme using suitable technologies and with experience of similar nature in the past three years, till December 14.
The move came 10 days after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde woke up early in the morning and went on a pre-dawn review of the air pollution status and measures being taken by the BMC to control it.
At that time, he had assured that if required, the state government will go in for a "cloud seeding" programme and sign an agreement with a Dubai-based company to control air and dust pollution in Mumbai.
However, in the past few days, following unseasonal rains in parts of Mumbai and other regions of Maharashtra, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has considerably improved.
Besides, after a rap from the Bombay High Court, the BMC has initiated a series of measures to control the air pollution created by thousands of private and government construction sites, vehicles and other sources of pollutants.
Civic officials indicate that the process of appointing a "cloud seeding" company is likely to be completed in the next 3-4 months, depending on various parameters as a measure to control the air pollution in Mumbai.

Stating that the Central government has provided adequate funds under the Smart City and Swachh Bharat schemes, Samal wanted to know where the money was going.
