In a letter to his Cabinet colleague Dharmendra Pradhan, Joshi said, “I am happy to inform you that MCL Board has approved setting up of a Kendriya Vidyalya each in Sundargarh district (Basundhara area) and Talcher Coalfields of Angul district ( Jagannath & Subhadra areas ) in deference to the demands made by the Hon'ble public representatives of the area.”
Earlier, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan had requested Joshi to take necessary steps regarding setting up of three Kendriya Vidyalayas in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of the State by MCL for the benefit of the local children.
In June last year, MCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd, had laid out an investment of about Rs 60,000 crore in Odisha, with Rs 31,000 crore to be spent for mining and social infrastructure development by 2023-24.
