Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: The Odisha government dismissed Boipariguda IIC Sushant Kumar Satpathy from his service days after the State Vigilance unearthed huge cash from his possession, officials said on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Odisha Vigilance arrested Susanta Satpathy, Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Boipariguda police station in Koraput district, after recovering Rs 37.27 lakh lakh ill-gotten money from his possession.
The anti-corruption sleuths have recovered cash to the tune of Rs 37.27 lakh during searches at Satpathy’s office chamber and government quarters in Koraput and Cuttack districts.
“Following inputs about movement of Satpathy, from Boipariguda to Cuttack in a Bus along with suspected ill-gotten cash, he was intercepted by a team of Odisha Vigilance near Jeypore and approximately Rs 2, 70,000 cash was recovered, the possession of which he could not explain satisfactorily,” a Vigilance official said.

The vigilance officials later carried out searches at different places related to the erring police official. The cops have so far recovered Rs 1, 80,000 from his office chamber at the police station, Rs 3 lakh from his official quarter at Boipariguda in Koraput and Rs 29.77 lakh from his official government quarter at Buxi Bazar in Cuttack.
Satpathy entered into government service as constable in the year 1999 under Bhubaneswar district Police and then got himself selected through direct recruitment in the year 2008 as Sub-Inspector of Police and underwent training during 2008-09 at BPSPA, Bhubaneswar.

From the year 2009 to 2023 July he worked as SI in various police stations in the state. In July 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector and joined in Koraput district as Inspector, DCRB and in-charge Cyber PS. In the month of August-2023, he was transferred as IIC, Boipariguda PS, Koraput and since then was continuing there, officials said.
