“Water level in the Hirakud water reservoir is increasing in view of rains in the upper catchment area of the reservoir. Thus, the year’s first floodwater will be released from Hiradkud Dam at 11 am on July 11,” informed the Additional Chief Engineer.
Stating that the water level will rise in the Mahanadi and its branch rivers due to release of water, the dam authorities advised people living in lower catchment area not to enter rivers. The Hirakud Dam authorities will not be held responsible for any untoward incident, if occurs, read the press note.
Sources said the dam authorities have already appraised the concerned districts about the release of floodwater.
