Mahtab, who attended the Peace-Puja Committee meeting, said, “There has been a need for raising the height of the Devi Durga idols. Let the restriction of curtained Puja be lifted. A fresh proposal will be submitted to the State Government,” said the MP.
He said a positive decision needs to be taken by the State Government by September 16. “Let the Dussehra Puja be celebrated amid Covid safety protocols,” he opined.
Cuttack Mahanagar Puja Committee secretary Pravat Kumar Tripathy said the decision of enforcing Puja curbs has been taken at administrative level while a letter had been sent to the Chief Minister. “A fresh proposal will be given. The State Government will be requested to relax restrictions on idol height and Puja in covered pandals,” he said.
Stating that a consensus has been reached in this regard, Tripathy said another Peace-Puja Committee meeting will be held on September 17 to take next course of action.
