The accused Forest Guard has been identified as Laxmi Narayan Swain.
According to the official sources, Forest Guard Swain was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.16,000 from a representative of labourers for preparing his Muster Roll and that of fellow labourers and clearing his pending bills.
The entire bribe amount of Rs16,000 was recovered from the possession of Swain and seized, said a Vigilance official.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations associated with on charges on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
Meanwhile, Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case against the accused Forest Guard under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 2018. Further investigation is underway, the official added.
