The accused duo identified as Asana Majhi and his son Shyamghan Majhi of Madhapur Colony Sahi were taken into custody immediately.
Officials seized axes and match boxes from the possession of the held accused duo.
“In the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, our forest patrolling team spotted smokes emanating from a number of places in Mundeswar Reserve Forest area. After rushing to the spot, the staff found the accused father-son duo setting dry leaves afire,” said Saroj Mishra, Madhapur Ranger.
Though the accused duo tried to escape from the spot finding Forest Department officials, they were caught by the patrolling team. They were later produced before a court.
