In a series of tweets, Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, requested the Chief Minister to take the demands of the protesting drivers seriously. He also urged the Chief Minister to discuss with all the drivers' union and find a solution.

The Union Minister said that commuters in Odisha faced difficulties to reach their destinations as the drivers’ strike entered second day today. “The drivers’ strike started almost a year ago, not today. At that time, I came to know from the media that the agitation was suspended after discussions between the drivers' union and the government,” he added.

“Driver friends play key role in society and they will continue to play their important role. They are not untouchable in society. They are one of us. It is not good for the democracy if the State government does not discuss with them and find a solution,” Pradhan tweeted.
Notably, drivers of commercial vehicles, called by Drivers’ Ekta Mahamancha, launched a “quit-steering” strike across the State yesterday to press their 10-point charter of demands, including pension after 60 years of age and other social security measures.
