The taskforce has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary PK Jena. The Director General of Police (DGP), Development Commissioner, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport, Principal Secretary, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare and Transport Commissioner have been named as members.
According to sources, the taskforce will meet as frequently as required and take necessary action to ensure free movements of essential commodities. Three Control Rooms have also been established.
The Committee held its first meeting on Thursday evening and monitored the current situation. Various steps have been initiated by task group to ensure smooth movement of essential commodities. Alternate strategies have been put in place for movement of various commodities including the fuel, to avoid any inconvenience to the public, sources added.

Meanwhile, agitating drivers’ association met the Chief Secretary in presence of senior officers and discussed their demands. Chief Secretary assured the association to consider and resolve the demands within three months.
