“If the news report becomes true, It will be disgusting,” tweeted Mohanty.
In its report, the English daily has mentioned that the Chief Minister might join the Odisha Legislative Assembly, starting from July 2, through a virtual mode.
“The State Assembly is the democratic temple of 4.5 crore Odia people. Issues relating to the State’s development are discussed in the House. In an important Budget session, the Chief Minister should remain present in person,” said Mohanty.
He said the Chief Minister should have planned his foreign tour keeping the important Assembly session in view. “The tour should have ended before the scheduled Assembly session or should have been planned after the session,” he contended.
“Attending Assembly session is not a good sign in the democratic tradition,” he argued further.
