On this occasion, Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries extended their greetings to the denizens of State Capital.
In a tweet in Odia, the Governor wished everyone on the occasion of the Foundation Day of the capital city. He also urged people to make Bhubaneswar an ideal city with a unique combination of culture and progress.
The Chief Minister also took twitter route to wish the people on this occasion.
“Congratulate everyone on the Bhubaneswar Foundation Day. From a temple city, Bhubaneswar has evolved as truly global city, Smart City and Sports Capital of India. It is our constant endeavour to develop it as a liveable city while preserving its monuments, culture & heritage,” he tweeted.
Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan also extended his greetings to the denizens on the occasion.
“Greetings to all the residents of the state Capital on the occasion of the Bhubaneswar Foundation Day,” Pradhan tweeted in Odia.
the Union Minister also recalled the contribution of slum dwellers living in Salia Sahi for establishing the city and stressed the need of providing them permanent ‘Patta’ and houses.
It was on April 13, 1948 that first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had laid the foundation stone of the city.
World renowned German architect and urban planner Otto Koenigsberger prepared the city's first master plan in 1948 for a population of 40 thousand.
Since then, Bhubaneswar remains a celebrated model of modern architecture and city planning.
The city remains a notable paradigm of modern town planning and architecture in India.
