Balasore, Oct 13: As many as six forest officials were injured as they were attacked by an elephant in Kuladiaha sanctuary in Balaswar district last night.
According to information, an elephant had entered nearby Khumkhut village last night. It ate up and destroyed standing paddy plants. On being informed by villagers, forest officials led by Panchelingeswar Forester went to the spot and attempted to drive away the pachyderm into the deep jungle. However, the jumbo chased them and attacked them with its trunk.
The van of the forest officials was also damaged.
Kuladia Ranger along with his staff has reached the spot and kept vigil on the elephant.
