The accused have been identified as Jagabandhu Jena, of the district, Ranjan Perisica, Durjya Kalia, and the other two as Prabin Baranasi and Rajesh Baranasi, resident of Andra Pradesh.
According to the information, the accused persons stole the pipes and smuggled it to Andra Pradesh by truck. Besides, they sold the stolen pipes to Shree Ganesh Private Limited company there.
After learning about the theft, the contractors involved in the construction project lodged a complaint at Bissamcuttack police station.
Acting on the complaint, the police questioned Jagabandhu and Ranjan about the heist. Later, the police tracked their call records.
After receiving reliable information form the call record, the police appointed a special team and sent them to Andhra Pradesh to nab the accused thieves.
Soon, the special team conducted a raid on the company and recovered the stolen pipes. Besides, the team has seized the truck which was used in the heist and arrested five accused in this connection.
‘The arrested accused have been forwarded to the court and further investigation have been initiated to nab the other suspected accused who were involved in this theft’, informed BissamCuttack SDPO.
