Unknown Vehicle Hits Motorcycle In Angul; One Killed, One Critical

Angul, Dec 20: Tension ran high in the Anugul Town police station area as a person was killed and another person was injured in an accident, reportedly caused by an unknown vehicle, at Prasanti Hotel Square on National Highway 55 early Friday morning. 

The deceased was identified as Bikram Routray of Jagatsinghpur. 

According to the informaiton, Bikram and his colleague were going to their workplace by motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them and fled from the spot. The two with severe injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital where Bikram was declared dead. The injured person is undergoing treatment. 

Tension prevailed at the spot for a few hours as locals blocked the road, demanding the arrest of the truck driver, adequate compensation for the deceased's family, and free treatment for the injured. 

The locals withdrew the agitation on the assurance of the local police. Vehicular movement was normalized thereafter. 

The police sent the body for postmortem and started an investigation, after registering an unnatural death case.
