Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Pays Rich Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi On His 155th Birth Anniversary

Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary.

In a social media post, Pradhan said, “Respectful tribute to the 'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, who showed the path of truth and non-violence to the entire world.”

“Gandhi ji had special emphasis on cleanliness and self-reliance. He believed that the foundation of a strong nation rests on cleanliness and self-reliant citizens. To promote self-reliance, he also emphasized on the use of Khadi and Swadeshi clothes. Mahatma Gandhi's ideas of Swadeshi, Swabhasha, cleanliness and Swaraj will continue to inspire all of us countrymen for a long time,” he added.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat.

Gandhi played a pivotal role in India's struggle for independence and spearheaded several movements that eventually helped free India from colonial rule.

Mahatma Gandhi, fondly called Bapu, has left an indelible impression on the life of many. He is regarded as the Father of the Nation who showcased the power of non-violence to the world and vehemently opposed bloodshed.
