Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Lauds Odisha Budget 2024, Calls It "Welfare & Progressive Budget"

Bhubaneswar, July 26: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has hailed the Odisha Budget 2024 presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Pradhan said, "Thanks to Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for presenting the first full budget of the BJP government in Odisha with a total estimate of Rs 2.65 lakh crore for the 2024-25 fiscal."

"As the budget is about 15 percent more than the previous financial year, this money will be very helpful in fulfilling the interests, hopes and aspirations of the people of Odisha and in building a developed and progressive Odisha," he added.

"Based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', this budget has been presented keeping in mind the improvement of all sections, especially the poor, farmers, youth, women, backward classes, tribals and given priority to Odia Asmita (Odia Pride)," he added.

"An outlay of Rs 33,919 crore for the development of agriculture sector, raising the MSP of paddy to Rs 3,100 and 'Samrudha Krushak Yojana' will strengthen the backbone of agriculture and farmers in the State," he added.

"An outlay of Rs 8,000 crore for drinking water supply will solve the water problem in the state," he noted.

"Similarly, an allocation of Rs 21,200 crore for healthcare, Rs 500 crores for Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Rs 35,536 crore for education sector, implementation of PM Shri Yojana, implementation of 'Madho Singh Hata Kharcha' scheme to curb school dropout rate, Rs 10,000 crore for 'Subhadra Yojana', creating 25 lakhs 'lakhpati didi' by 2027, increase of social security allowance to Rs 3500, Rs Rs 63,457 crore for tribal development, Rs 1,315 crore for sports and youth services and Rs 58,195 crore for infrastructure development are welcome," the Union Minister said.

CM Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented his government's maiden annual budget on Thursday with a total estimate of Rs 2.65 lakh crore for the 2024-25 fiscal.
