Two Killed, 32 Injured As Pick-Up Van Carrying Wedding Party Overturns In Koraput

Koraput, Mar 17: At least two people were killed and 32 others injured after a pick-up van on its way to a wedding ceremony overturned in Odisha's Koraput district on Sunday.

As per reports, the accident took place near Khatlapadar bridge under Kundra police limits in the district this afternoon when the pick-up van with several guests of  'Baratis' on board fell on its side after the driver lost control over the vehicle.

The two persons died on the spot, locals said.

The pickup van, carrying  guests of  'Baratis' from Dalpur village of Baipariguda block, was on its way to the wedding ceremony at Nuagaon village, they added.

After getting information, a local police team and fire service personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured persons from the vehicle.

The injured persons were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jeypore for their treatment.

Police started an investigation into the incident.

A pall of gloom descended at the village due to the loss of lives following the road accident.
