Tourist Drowns, 4 Critical While Taking Bath In Konark Sea

Puri, Mar 18: In a tragic mishap, a tourist died and four others became critical after being washed away by sea waves in the Bay of Bengal at Chandrabhaga near Konark in Puri district on Monday. 

The deceased has been identified as Sudam Prasad Shah, a native of Sinkholi district in Madhya Pradesh. The four others have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Puri. 

According to the information, Sudam and others were swimming in the seawater when they were dragged into a distance by back waves. Lifeguards managed to rescue all from the water. However, Sudam was declared dead. The four were shifted to Puri DHH because of their critical condition. 

The incident shocked the tourists who visited the beach today.

The local police have registered a case and started investigation.
