Sambalpur, Oct 4: Sambalpur police conducted a surprise raid in Sambalpur Mandal Jail late Thursday night and seized a huge amount of tobacco products and drugs.
According to the reports, seven inspectors, two SDPO, four platoons of police force and an additional SP were involved in the raid in the presence of the magistrate.
The raid started at 3:30 am and continued till 6:30 am. 576 prisoners are lodged in 22 wards in Sambalpur Mandal Jail.
Several packets of gutkha, khaini, cannabis (bhang), alcohol and cigarettes were seized from the cells.
