International Yoga Day 2024: Sudarsan Pattnaik Depicts Sand Art On Yoga At Puri Beach

Puri, June 21: Internationally acclaimed sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattnaik on Friday created in sand the art of yoga on the Golden Sea Beach here to mark the 10th International Day for Yoga having a theme  "Yoga for Self and Society,"

Pattnaik has depicted all 12 forms of 'Surya Namaskar' in yoga in the colourful sand art. 

The International Day of Yoga is observed every year on June 21 to highlight its immense benefits for overall health and well-being. This observance was established by the United Nations in 2014.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of a global day dedicated to yoga during his 2014 address to the United National General Assembly (UNGA).

This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the international-level yoga celebrations on the banks of Dal Lake in Jammu and Kashmir. 

Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi led State-level celebrations in the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Chief Ministers of other states also participated in the event held in their respective States.
