Puri, June 16: A special meeting of the Shremandi Managing Committee will be convened soon to chalk out strategies for smooth Darshan of the deities, said Puri district Collector Siddhartha Sankar Swain on Sunday.
The Collector said a special committee will be formed to regulate the Darshan system in the Shreemandir.
Proposals like the opening of Panda Dwar, lifting of barriers from Jagamohan, and opening of the exit gate from Anand Bazaar towards Baisi Pabachha (sacred 22 steps) may be discussed at the proposed meeting.
Meanwhile, Puri SP Pinak Mishra said the number of devotees has swelled twice as the last four days were holidays for the Raja festival. As a result, thick crowds were marked around the Shreemandir and a problem was erupted in the city's traffic system.
The SP said adequate police personnel have been deployed to manage the crowds. He said a few more days will be required to streamline the Darsha system under the new guidelines.
Devotees have to exercise patience and restraint due to huge holiday crowds, said the SP.
