Bhubaneswar, June 17: Members of the Baristha Sambadika Sangha (Senior Journalists' Association) met and greeted Odisha's new Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the State Guest House yesterday.
Senior scribes discussed about their problems with the CM and submitted a five-point charter of demand to him.
The demands include provision of pension for the retired journaliss and legislatin of an act for the safey of journalists. The scribes also submitted to the CM the RTI data on the status of the association's earlier demands.
The team comprising state president Kanhu Charan Nanda, general secretary Ashutosh Behera, vice-president Pradipta Kishore Choudhury, organisation secretaries Biplab Mohant and Raghunath Sahoo and executive members Ratnakar Jena and Jibananada Adhikari, member Debe Singh, Puri district president Saroj Kumar Mishra, secretary Laxminarayan Patnaik, member Bhabagat Patnaik and activists from Dhenkajal met the Chief Minister. They all greeted Majhi with flower bouquets.
The Chief Minister listened to the demands and assured that he would discuss demands with the concerned department and take the best possible measures.
