Bhubaneswar, Aug 21: Odisha Assembly witnessed ruckus for the second consecutive day on Wednesday as opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress members shouted slogans over separate issues.

Unable to run the House, Speaker Surama Padhy first adjourned the proceedings till 11.30 AM and later till 4 PM today.

As soon as the House assembled for the Question hour, the members of both the BJD and the Congress rushed to the well and shouted slogans against the BJP government in the State and the Centre.

The Congress members targeted the BJP government at the Centre as “anti-tribal and anti-dalit” over the issue of reservation for scheduled tribes and scheduled castes.

On the other hand, the BJD demanded a Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) level inquiry into the Ganjam liquor tragedy where one person died and 14 others were hospitalised after consuming spurious alcohol.

Speaker Padhy asked the opposition legislators to take their respective seats and participate in the Question hour. However, the opposition members continued to raise slogans from the well of the House.

Amid the huge uproar in the House, the Speaker first adjourned the proceedings till 11.30 AM and later till 4 PM.

Notably, the second phase of Odisha Assembly's Budget session began yesterday on a stormy note as the Opposition Congress created a ruckus in the House over students' union elections in the State.

Yesterday also, the Speaker first adjourned the House for an hour till 11.41 AM. The house was later adjourned again till 4 PM as the pandemonium continued even after it resumed.
