Kendrapara, Mar 17: In what can be termed as a daring act, miscreants looted as much as 120 grams of gold jewellery and hard cash of more than Rs 30,000 from a lawyer's house even when a police vehicle was stationed near their house at Pohala square in Mulabasanta village under Pattamundai block in Kendrapara district last night.

According to the information, four to five miscreants broke open the window grill of additional public prosecutor Bhimsen Pradhan's house late on Saturday night.

At first, they tied Bhimsen with a mosquito net. When his wife cried for help the looters stabbed a knife in his stomach and threatened to kill him.

According to the sources, a religious fair was taking place near their house for which a police vehicle was present there. Despite that, the robbers mustered up courage and looted the house.

Their daring act did not stop here. The robbers also took away the hard disk of the CCTV installed in Bhimsen's house, to destroy evidence of the illegal act,  putting a challenge to the security personnel.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
