Cuttack, Sep 6: A day after Malgodown police in Cuttack booked a BJD MLA and two party leaders for their alleged involvement in a group clash outside the Ravenshaw University gate here, an audio clip has gone viral in which BJD leader Akram Khan (alias Bobby) is purportedly heard abusing and threatening a student of the university to withdraw the FIR against them.
BJD leader Bobby Khan allegedly called up one Priyaranjan Pandav, a student of Ravenshaw University, and questioned him for lodging complaint against three BJD leaders including MLA Byomkesh Roy.
Khan also allegedly abused the student and threatened to face dire consequences, apart from filing a false FIR against him.
It is pertinent here to mention that on Thursday night Malgodown police booked BJD MLA Byomkesh Roy and two party leaders- Lenin Mohanty and Bobby Khan- in connection with the clash that broke out during a ‘Mashal rally’ outside the Ravenshaw University gate in Cuttack on Wednesday.
In the FIR, the complainant alleged that some non-students led by the BJD MLA and other two accused on Wednesday evening barged into the university campus and asked him and other students to leave the campus because they wanted to hold the ‘Mashal rally’.
The non-students also became furious and attacked some students, the complainant alleged.
The rally was reportedly organised after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan suggested a debate over renaming of the iconic Ravenshaw University, named after British bureaucrat Thomas Edward Ravenshaw.
