Bhubaneswar, June 27: Odisha is experiencing rain for 2-3 days, giving the people some relief from intense heat. The rainfall is reportedly a result of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal.
The Meteorological Department has said that the rain will continue for the next five days. There are chances of heavy rain as well as thundershower at some places in the state. The Met Dept has also stated that there are chances of heavy rainfall, Thursday and Friday.
Very Heavy rain is likely in Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri and Khorda in next 24 hours, while Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabrangpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul and Dhenkanal may experience heavy rain. Yellow warning has been issued to the said districts as four of these districts might experience thundershower with a wind speed of 30-40 km/h.
Similarly, yellow warning has also been issued for Friday as 15 districts are likely to experience thundershower, while 11 districts may experience heavy rain and very heavy rain likely for three districts.
According to reports, 111.1 mm rainfall has been recorded in the state since June 1, which is way less than expected amount of rain -- 181.6 mm. The Met Dept also said that six districts have experienced usual rainfall, while four have experienced more than usual. The worrying part is that 20 districts have recorded insufficient rainfall.
