Sambalpur, Apr 21: BJP State president and party candidate for the Kuchinda Assembly segment Rabi Narayan Naik on Sunday came down heavily on BJD candidate for Sambalpur parliamentary segment Pranab Prakash Das for his alleged remarks over the development of Kuchinda during his visit yesterday.

Naik, a former MLA from the seat, said the BJD has stood in the way of Kuchinda's development during its 24 years of rule. He alleged that the ruling party had betrayed and exploited the people of Kuchinda.

Farmers, tribal people, students, youth and people belonging to all sections have been deprived of their rights, he said.
Naik said the Naveen Patnaik government has always adopted a dillydallying attitude in fulfilling the Kuchinda people's demands.
"Though the BJP placed 22 demands in the interest of the people of Kuchinda, the BJD government has not fulfilled one of them," said Naik.

While farmers suffer due to the unwanted deduction in paddy weight per quintal, forest dwellers have been deprived of getting MSP on their minor forest products. Thousands of youths are moving outside to work as migrant labourers as the State government has failed to provide them jobs, alleged Naik.

Naik too alleged that the Government has lopsided the people's demand of giving government status to the lone Kuchinda degree college.

He criticized the BJD candidate Pranab Prakash Das for asking a question to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about the Centre's contribution to Sambalpur's development.

"By the efforts of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, premier institute IIM has been established, national highway work expedited and airport constructed at Jharsuguda. People know the big contributions made by the Modi governent for development of Sambalpur and the State as well," contended Naik.
