Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: A team of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has initiated a probe by asking questions to the people who are standing in a queue in front of Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) Office to exchange their Rs 2,000 notes in Bhubaenswar today.
Accoridng to the information, on Tuesday, people suddendly appeared in front of RBI Office and stood in a long queue to exchange their Rs 2K notes.
Accoridng to reports, there is a alleged scam involved which has persuaded people to deposite their 2K notes in RBI.
After learning about the incident, a team of EOW reached the spot and currently initaiting a probe by asking questions to the people standing in the queue and veryfing their aadhar cards.
The EOW is also investigating to find who is the culprit behind the incidnet.
It is to be noted that The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had granted an extension for the exchange or deposit of Rs 2000 banknotes, originally taken out of circulation on May 19, 2023. The deadline for the withdrawal process was initially set for September 30, 2023.
However, in a recent review, the RBI has decided to extend the period until October 7, 2023.
