Puri, Oct 13: Devotees are all happy to see Shreemandir deities- Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, and Devi Subhadra- in Suna Besha (gold attire) on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra) today.
Lord Jagannath and His siblings are decked up in gold ornaments as part of the ritualistic Rajadhiraja (King of kings) Besha on Vijaya Dashami every year. Thousands of devotees rushed into the 12th-century shrine to have a glimpse of the deities in this attractive attire, also known as Suna Besha.
Suna Besha, also known as Rajadhiraja Besha, Bada Tadhau Besha and Rajarajeshwara Besha, is an event when Lold Jagannath and His siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are adorned with gold jewelry.
Suna Bhesha is observed five times every year i.e. on Pousha Purnima, Rath Yatra, Dussehra, Kartik Purnima, and Dola Purnima.
According to the information, the Radhadamodar Besha and Kartika Niti will begin from Ekadashi Tithi tomorrow. Like every year, Habishyalis will be camping in the town to observe Kartika Brata in the holy month of Kartika.
According to the tradition, the Idols of Devi Durga worshiped at various Puja Pandals, will come in procession and be seated in a Deva Sabha in front of the Singhadwar (Lions' Gate) tomorrow. After Ekadashi Deepa (sacred earthen lamp) is raised atop the temple, the idols will move and be immersed at their designated places.
