Berhampur, Feb 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur, on Tuesday (February 20), on virtual mode.
Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan will also join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the inauguration via video conferencing.
Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Bisweswar Tudu has reached Berhampur on Monday night to take part in the inauguration of the permanent campus of IISER.
The IISER at Berhampur was functioning in the transit campus of ITI, Berhampur since academic year 2016-17.
The land for the permanent campus was selected at an 263.79 acre area at Laudigaon.
The construction of the campus started on September 5, 2019 with a sanctioned amount of Rs 1582.78 crore.
Academic building, hostels, canteen, dining hall, community centre, dispensaries, residential complexes for lecturers and staff are also constructed in the permanent campus.
Apart from this, tennis court, basket ball and volleyball court, cricket pitch and a stadium for the sports enthusiasts is also accomodated.
