Puri, Nov 9: President Droupadi Murmu will take part in the Navy Day programme in Odisha’s Puri on December 4, officials said on Saturday.
The Indian Navy is set to demonstrate its formidable maritime capabilities and operational strength at the 'Operational Demonstration' (Op Demo) scheduled at Blue Flag Beach, Puri, Odisha, on December 4 (Navy Day).
President Murmu has consented to be the Chief Guest for the event. This event showcases the Navy's multifaceted competencies, enhances maritime awareness among citizens, and honors India's rich seafaring heritage, a release said.
The 2024 Op Demo to be held against the backdrop of the pristine Blue Flag Beach, symbolizes the connection between the Indian Navy and the maritime legacy of the State of Odisha.
The Indian Navy is working closely with the Odisha Government and local authorities to ensure the smooth execution of the event. Seating arrangements would be made to accommodate local spectators and tourists, offering everyone a chance to witness the live demonstration from the beach. The event will also be broadcast live on National television and streamed via the Indian Navy's YouTube channel to reach a wider audience.
Earlier, President Murmu boarded the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on November 7 and witnessed an operational demonstration by the Indian Navy at sea.
Navy day is celebrated on 4th December every year. On the occasion of Navy Day, there is a tradition of organising ‘Operational Demonstrations’ by the Indian Navy’s ships, submarines, aircraft and special forces.
These ‘Operational Demonstrations’ provide an opportunity to the people to witness various facets of multi-domain operations undertaken by the Indian Navy. It highlights the Navy’s contributions towards national security to the public, while also heralding maritime consciousness amongst citizens.
