Pregnant Woman Shot Dead By Miscreants In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh, Dec 12: In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was shot dead by two unidentified persons in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Soumyamayee Behera, wife of Deben Behera of Jhirdapali village under Tikayatpali police station in the district. She was seven months pregnant, sources said.

According to sources, two unidentified persons knocked on Soumyamayee’s door late last night. When she opened the door, the miscreants snatched her gold chains. As the women resisted the robbery attempt and raised an alarm, the miscreants shot at her and fled from the spot, sources added.

Hearing the firing sounds, Deben came out hurriedly and found her wife lying in a pool of blood.

The woman was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Banei, where doctors declared her “brought dead”.

After getting information, police reached the crime spot and started an investigation into the incident.
