Kendrapara Oct 29: A State government employee on Tuesday alleged she suffered a miscarriage after the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) denied her leave during severe labor pain at her office in Odisha's Kendrapara district.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 25 but came to light on Tuesday when the woman, Barsha Priyadarshini, shared her experience with the media.

Barsha, a clerk of the Women and Child Development Department in Kendrapara district's Derabish block, said she was in her seventh month of pregnancy and felt intense pain at the office.

Barsha alleged that CDPO Snehalata Sahoo denied her request for leave following which she suffered a miscarriage.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida ordered for a detailed investigation and submission of the report in this connection.

The CDPO, while speaking to media, said it was a false allegation and she had no knowledge of Barsha's condition.
