Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: The State government Sunday asked concerned district Collectors to remain alert ahead of the possible cyclone and urged people of the State not to panic.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari talked to officers of the line departments and asked them all to remain prepared to combat the possible natural calamity likely to be caused by low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
The Minister has also directed the Odisha Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force and all emergency departments to stay prepared to combat the cyclone.
A cyclonic storm is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast on October 23, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Sunday.
The system will intensify into a depression which will trigger rains in the coastal parts of the State.
