Police Arrest 9 Ornament Cleaners On Charge Of Gold Stealing

Rourkela, Oct 29: Police arrested nine persons on the charge of stealing gold by way of cleaning ornaments at the doorsteps of families in villages in Rourkela City.   

The police seized 100 grams of gold and three motorbikes from them. They also seized chemicals used in cleaning gold ornaments.  

Police said the miscreants had been cleaning ornaments and stealing gold for the last three years. They are natives of Bihar's Bhagalpur. 

"They had been staying in a rented house in the Gopabandhupali area. They used to move door to door and offer to clean gold and silver ornaments at nominal prices. They were targeting women customers," said the police. 

There were complaints against them at different police stations.
