Bhubaneswar, Sep 17: On his 74th birthday today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Odisha to launch several key welfare programmes including the State government’s flagship initiative- “Subhadra Yojana”.
After his arrival in Bhubaneswar at 10.50 AM, the Prime Minister visited Sabarsahi slum at Gadakana village on the outskirts of the State Capital and interacted with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban.
The Prime Minister also took Khiri (a popular Odia desert) at the new PMAY residence of one Antaryami Nayak at the Sabarsahi slum and celebrated his birthday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra accompanied the Prime Minister during his visit to the slum area.
Soon after meeting the PMAY-Urban beneficiaries, the PM Modi is scheduled to reach reach Janata Maidan here this afternoon, from where he will launch the Subhadra Yojana, and unveil railway projects worth Rs 2,871 crore and highway projects worth Rs 1,000 crore
The Subhadra Yojana is the largest women-centric initiative in the state, aimed at supporting over 1 crore women.
Eligible beneficiaries between the ages of 21 and 60 will receive 50,000 rupees over a period of five years. Beneficiaries will be credited 10,000 rupees annually in two equal instalments through Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled bank accounts.
During the launch event, PM Modi will initiate the first fund transfer to over 10 lakh women beneficiaries.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation railway projects worth more than 2,800 crore rupees, today.
