Balasore, Sep 5: Another example of the preceding BJD government's negligence in rural infrastructure has come to the fore in Balasore district's Jaleswar area. Due to the unavailability of a motorable road, a patient had to be carried on a cot to a hospital.

The sordid incident was reported from Sialagadia village under Jaleswar block in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the information, a woman, Rekhabati Singh, got one of her legs fractured as she fell from a high place during work yesterday. Though family members called for a 108 ambulance, the patient-carrier vehicle could not come to the village due to the unavailability of an all-weather road and was stranded at a distance of 1.5 km. The village road was severely muddy due to incessant rains.

With no other option left, family members carried the injured woman on a cot to the place where the ambulance was stranded.

"We had approached concerned offices many times during the BJD government. But all our efforts fell on deaf ears," rued villagers.
