Odisha Vigilance Arrests Nuapada MVI After Recovering Rs 1.32 Lakh From His Possession

Bhubaneswar, Sep 8: Odisha vigilance on Sunday arrested Bijay Kumar Behuria, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Nuapada, after recovering suspected ill-gotten cash worth Rs 1.32 lakh from his possession, officials said.    

A team of vigilance officials intercepted Behuria near Khordha Hospital Square yesterday when he was heading to Bhubaneswar from Nuapada in a private car.

During interception, a sum of Rs 1.32 lakh was recovered from Swain, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

Subsequently, the cash has been seized and a corruption case has been registered against him.

Later, the Vigilance sleuths conducted raids at his rented house and office in Nuapada as well as the residential house located in Singhpur, and two flats in Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar.

A case has been registered against Behuria under sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station. Further investigation was underway, a senior Vigilance official said.
