Bhubaneswar, Sept 28: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Saturday said Odisha Police would be made 'disciplined, people-centric force' and number one in the country.
The Chief Minister highlighted the role of the District Magistrates in providing administrative service and that of Superintendents of Police in providing security to the people.
Addressing the joint conference of District Collectors and SPs, the Chief Minister asked them to work in coordination so that people would get good governance and feel secure.
To strengthen the security aspect in Puri, the Chief Minister said his government would establish a special battalion with 1043 posts in the pilgrimage city.
He said 9,000 new motorcycles and 4-wheelers would be provided to police stations.
The government will provide 1143 special battalions for the Shreemandir, said the Chief Minister.
To streamline the security aspect at medical colleges, the Chief Minister said each of the 10 medical colleges would have a police outpost.
Regarding disaster management, Majhi announced that 10 new ODRAF units will be created and one unit will be opened in each district. Three new battalions will be formed for Odisha Special Security Force (OSSF).
