Odisha: Man Arrested On Charge Of Marrying, Cheating Multiple Women

Bhubaneswar, Sept 15: The Crime Branch of Odisha police has arrested a man on the charge of marrying a multiple number of women and cheating them in Odisha and many other states. 

The accused has been identified as Biranchi Narayan Nath, a resident of the Chhendipada area of Angul district. 

Police said his modus operandi was to befriend women through fake social media accounts opened under different names.  

He impersonated as Railway Officer, Income Tax Inspector, Custom Officer, and Central Excise Officer before women at different places. He offered marriage proposals through matrimony sites. 

He married many women and secretly videographed intimate moments with them.  He also talked slang with many other women and recorded the conversation on mobiles. With obscene videos and slang talk records, he used to blackmail the women. 

In 2022, a woman from Cuttack filed a complaint with the Crime Branch. In her complaint, the woman alleged that the fraudster had taken Rs 5 lakh and 32 grams of gold from her. 

There are cases against him not only in Odisha but also in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. It was revealed during the investigation.   

The Crime Branch seized photos, videos, and fake ID cards from the accused.
