Sambalpur, Feb 3: Odisha will never run short of energy as it is the land of 'Surya Devta' (Sun Gog), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this while speaking about the rooftop solar energy scheme of his government at a public meeting here today.

"Odisha is the State of Surya Devta. Surya Devta temple is in Konark. Our rooftop solar scheme will make the State glitter with solar power and help people enhance their income," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said his government's priority is to help poor people get power free of cost. The current budget has made provision for solar energy production on rooftops.

"With the support of the Union Government, people can set up solar panels on their rooftops and get solar power. They will not only consume solar power in their houses but also sell excess power and earn money,"  said the Prime Minister.
