Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: The Odisha government will start paddy procurement in November for the Kharif marketing season 2024-25 with an enhanced minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 3,100 per quintal, informed BJP spokesperson Samir Ranjan Dash on Tuesday.

The State government has decided to begin the paddy procurement for this Kharif season from the farmers in Sohela block of Bargarh district from November, Dash said.

“The previous BJD government had cheated the paddy farmers on the MSP with its false promise of providing Rs 100 bonus per quintal of paddy,” he added.

“However, the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government will procure paddy from the farmers by providing Rs 800 bonus per quintal of paddy, and thus the farmers will get MSP Rs 3,100 per quintal of paddy.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed officials to simplify the procurement process at mandis (market yards) and ensure that farmers benefit from the increased MSP.
