Odisha: Hirakud Dam Closes Two Sluice Gates

Sambalpur, July 31: The authorities of Hirakud dam in Odisha closed two sluice gates on Wednesday after a decrease in the inflow of water into the reservoir, officials said.

Currently, the water of Hirakud dam is being released through 18 gates, including 12 on the left and six on the right, downstream of the Mahanadi river.

The water level of the dam stood at 611.85 ft at 6 AM today as against its full reservoir capacity of 630 feet.

On Sunday, the authorities of Hirakud Dam opened 20 sluice gates of the total 67 gates of the reservoir to release the dam's first flood water of this year's rainy season.
