Odisha Govt To Implement 'Madho Singh Hath Kharcha' Yojana For Tribal Students

Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: Odisha government will implement ‘Madho Singh Haath Kharch Yojana’ (pocket money scheme) for tribal students from this year, announced Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling at Odisha Assembly Thursday.

This initiative was taken to prevent drop-out of SC and ST students from school. This scheme will provide financial assistance of Rs 5,000 each to tribal students for their studies.

Three lakh students will benefit from this scheme for which the state government has allocated Rs 156 crore, informed Mahaling.

Highlighting the scheme, the Minister said that the tribal students promoted from Class 8 to 9 and from 10 to 11 in schools will receive Rs 5000 per year as an incentive amount.
