Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVs), including eight in Odisha. The Kendriya Vidyalayas will come up in, in districts currently not covered by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed about the KVs approved for Odisha.
One Each Kendriya Vidyalayas will come up at Kuchinda in Sambalpur district, Talcher and Athamalik in Angul district, Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district, ITBP in Khordha district, Jeypore in Koraput district and Railway Titilatarh and Patnagarh in Bolangior district.
According to available data, a total of Rs 8,232 crore has been allocated for the establishment of these schools, with Rs 5,872 crore for the new KVs and Rs 2,360 crore for the 28 NVs, also approved by the Cabinet.
The opening of these schools will also create around 6,700 job opportunities, including 5,388 regular posts for KVs and 1,316 posts for NVs. This will contribute to employment while strengthening educational infrastructure across India.
After the cabinet approved the opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said that this decision would benefit a large number of students and create many employment opportunities.
Talking to social media X, PM Modi wrote, "Our government has taken another big decision to make school education as accessible as possible. Under this, 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be opened across the country. While this step will benefit a large number of students, it will also create many new employment opportunities."
