Sambalpur, Dec 19: The Enforcement Directorate continued raids at the three locations linked to the late brother of senior BJD MLA Pramila Mallik here in Odisha for the second consecutive day on Thursday in connection with the alleged Rs 231 crore loan fraud case.

The Central probe agency officials have been conducting raids at the house and some other premises linked to Khirod Malik, late brother BJD legislator Pramila Malik, in Sambalpur.  The raids are underway at his NGO BISWA’s office in Danipali, a building in Modipara and BISWA Zym in Dhanupali area here.

Khirod was accused of swindling a whopping Rs 231 crore from various banks across Odisha and other states through his NGO, Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency (BISWA).

The loans were obtained for the purpose of lending to self-help groups (SHGs). However, the loan amount was not used for the desired purpose and was mis-utilised by furnishing the fabricated utilisation certificates, sources said.

Pramila Malik is a seven-time MLA and chief whip of Opposition BJD in the Odisha assembly. She represents the Binjharpur assembly seat in Jajpur district.
