Bhubaneswar, July 25: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who holds the Finance portfolio, will present the first annual State budget of his government for 2024-25 today.
As per the business schedule of the Assembly, the Appropriation Bill on a vote on account will be tabled on July 31.
Odisha’s economy grew at 8.5 per cent in the 2023-24 financial year, according to the latest Economic Survey report.
The state’s economy grew at 7.9 per cent in the 2022-23 fiscal, it said.
The survey report, tabled in the state assembly on Wednesday, said that the size of Odisha’s economy was estimated to be at Rs 8.3 lakh crore in the 2023-24 fiscal or around USD 100.6 billion.
Notably, the previous BJD government had presented an interim budget with an outlay of Rs 2.55 lakh crore for the current financial year before the state went into the simultaneous elections for Assembly and Lok Sabha.
The first session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced on July 22. It will continue till September 13.
