Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: BJP leader and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will embark on a two-day visit to poll-bound Jharkhand on September 30, sources said on Saturday.

According to sources, the Chief Minister will visit Jaganthpur of Pashchimi Singhbhum district in Jharkhand on September 30. He will hold discussion with Odia-speaking people in the neighbouring State.

CM Majhi will then travel to Chaibasa and Kolhan on October 1. He is also scheduled to visit Ranchi and hold discussion with the members of “Odia Samaj” on various issues, sources said.

Political insiders said, BJP plans to utilize CM Majhi, who belongs to the tribal community, during their election campaigning in tribal-dominated Jharkhand.

CM Majhi belongs to the Santal tribe, which is spread over Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and West Bengal, and is considered a valuable asset for BJP’s campaign.

Notably, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the BJP’s election co-incharge for Jharkhand, met Governor Raghubar Das and CM Majhi at Raj Bhavan here yesterday.

The development is viewed by political analysts as a strategy meeting for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, to be held later this year.
