Bhubaneswar, July 15: Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday held his second public grievance sitting and heard several hundreds of complaints from people coming from across 30 districts of the state.

Like his previous public grievance exercise held on July 1, the second sitting was marked by people, including differently-abled, coming from far-off places like Kalahandi, Malkangiri and Mayurbhanj to air their problems. The CM paid patients to listen to them.

“Along with Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, I heard grievances of hundreds of people and tried to provide them justice. Our government is committed to broadbase the public grievance system. Senior officials of the state government have been asked to activate their grievance redressal mechanism,” the CM Majhi wrote on micro-blogging platform X, formerly Twitter.

Sources said the CM is most likely to hold grievances in the offices of four Revenue Division Commissioners (RDCs) so that people will not have to travel to the state capital, incurring huge financial burden and spending hours on travelling.

In the first grievance hearing session on July 1, the CM had heard about 1540 complaints.

“The arrangements at the grievance hearing centre are quite good. Police personnel, senior officers and volunteers are treating the people very friendly,” said Sukant Mohanty, a resident of Chowdwar to air his grievance to the CM.
